CANADIAN WORLD & ROOTS MUSIC LIVE AT MAISON DE LA CULTURE AHUNTIC-CARTIERVILLE, MONTREAL

In Montreal the Canada Council brought together musical groups from all across Canada in a showcase designed to promote some of the best Canadian aboriginal and world music artists recording and performing today. The idea behind this event was to create a greater awareness of the diversity of music being created in Canada. The result was an explosion of creativity reflecting Canada's new ethnic mix.
Canada
Council brought together a group of fifteen such Bands from across
the country in a musical extravaganza titled Exposed
Roots. Selected by peers
through a process based on artistic merit and tour experience, each group played a 25 minute set during the weekend of November 22st to 23rd at Maison De La Cultute Ahuntsic-Cartierville in Montreal. Over a hundred European festival promoters, Canadian soft-seat venue
presenters (concert hall like Living Arts Centre in Mississauga, for example),
along with managers and agents are expected to attended. Canada Council has
produced a directory, a compilation CD and posters while hosting workshops for
artists on developing Canadian and European markets and networking sessions with
music agents and managers. Canadian
world and roots music has finally come of age.
Bajaj
& Krishna Prod. (!573801 Ontario Corp.) videotaped this two day musical
showcase held at the Ahuntsic-Cartiervile before a live audience. The show was
shot with 5 camera mobile unit. We
have shot all of 25 minutes performance of each band and plan to select one song
for broadcast (as suggested by Mr.
Bob Sherrin) during the rough cut stage. Depending
upon the requirement of CBC, we will shoot an opening of an Intro in Toronto. The two-day performance was emceed by Tony Trembly both in both in
English and French.
